The heart of Utrecht is the 2000 year-old Domplein. This is the place where the Tour de France peloton biked under the majestic Domtoren and where the Romans founded Utrecht with Castellum Traiectum. Here you can walk among nice stores, the most culinary restaurants and the most beautiful must-see locations in the city. And this makes it the ideal starting point for a visit to Utrecht.
Start with a cup of coffee in a cosy café at the Domplein, for example. And then climb the Domtoren's 465 steps for a terrific view over the city. You'll also find vibrant districts and cosy neighbourhoods here, where you can get to know the real Utrecht and its population. But if you'd rather tour the iconic wharves by boat, then you'll be at the Oudegracht within three minutes. There is also a tourist information centre at the Domplein, or you can rent a bike for a tour of the rest of the city!
