The heart of Utrecht is the 2000 year-old Domplein. This is a place with thousands of years of history, where the Tour de France peloton biked under the majestic Domtoren in 2015 and where the Romans once founded Utrecht with Castellum Traiectum. It forms a perfect starting point from where you can explore Utrecht.
Consider starting with a cup of coffee in a cosy café at the Domplein, then climb the Domtoren's 465 steps for a terrific view of the city. The city is home to vibrant districts and cosy neighbourhoods, where you can get to know the real Utrecht and its locals. Should you rather tour the iconic wharves by water, then head to the Oudegracht and hop on one of the boats offering tours of the city. There is also a tourist information centre at the Domplein where you can head for information and inspiration and where you can rent a bike for a tour of the rest of the city!
