Architecture - Remarkable mix of iconic buildings
In Utrecht, centuries-old history comes together with modern architecture. In the city centre, you walk among medieval structures and remarkable monuments. But the most famous building in the city by far is the Rietveld Schröderhuis, close to the Wilhelminapark. This ground-breaking masterpiece by world-famous architect Gerrit Rietveld has been on UNESCO's world heritage list since 2000 and is considered the highlight of the De Stijl art movement.
You can see more spectacular and prize-winning architecture in the Utrecht Science Park, the centre of knowledge at the edge of the city. Don't miss De Daktuin here - on the roof of a parking garage. In this beautiful green space, young and old come together to enjoy food, drinks and surprising events.
