On annual Heritage Day, between 70 and 100 monuments open their doors to the public free of charge. Based on a new theme every year, unique buildings and special monuments can be visited that are not normally accessible.

Heritage Day in Utrecht focuses on guided tours, with special routes set out for people who wish to wander about on their own. The programme is tailored specially each year, so there is always something new to discover.

At various points in the city, the heritage buildings serve as the backdrop for cultural activities for young and old. The day takes on a festive character due to the concerts and public lectures, and many of the private owners put together their own programmes packed full of interesting activities.

Want to know exactly what's in store? There will be an information stand at Domplein square where all of your questions about the Utrecht programme will be answered, and where you can also pick up a copy of the ‘Monuments Bulletin’ (Monumentenkrant), full of information on all activities and open buildings.
